One of our own, Peter Sheldrick plus his colleague Vishnu Tirumalaraju have teamed up to clarify "all the hype" on Cloud Computing.
What's fact or fiction? What's the good, the bad and the ugly?
Let's find out together!!
Objectives: (1) Define cloud computing, (2) Compare and contrast to on-premise data center, (3) Financial and Operational Implications, and (4) Demonstration of deploying a small routine in the cloud environment compared to a hypothetical situation that could occur with an on-premise data center.

Peter has over twenty years of professional experience mostly in the financial services industry in various functional areas ranging from finance to data science to data engineering. Within these data related roles, he developed and implemented many algorithms, created data marts, instituted data governance platform, and stood up a distributed computing environment. His passion is to create a resilient and scalable analytical platform for users to derive their insights to increase revenue or decrease expenses.
Vishnu Tirumalaraju – Senior Data Engineer at Procore Technologies
Vishnu Tirumalaraju is Senior Data Engineer at Procore Technologies, cloud-first construction management software platform. Working on consistent and near-real time delivery of data to a global audience. He has over 12+ years in multiple Software Engineering roles at high profile companies.
Before joining Procore, Vishnu spent 4+ years at MassMutual, helping with digital transformation building data marts and operational datastores with a cloud-first approach.
Vishnu is very passionate about democratization of data with cloud first take.
In his free time, Vishnu enjoys playing tennis and kayaking.
