Stand Out in the Remote Crowd During Times of Crisis

We heard you! Dealing with scattered teams, virtual classes, workspaces, and stressed students or employees distracted by competing priorities is your new normal. These are unprecedented times that demand confident and effective leaders more than ever.

The good news is that proven leadership and academic principles still work—if you know how to pivot the culture and inspire confidence. Your teams may be physically apart, but a highly engaged and productive workforce is still possible.

In short: How you stand out in this time of crisis will make all the difference.

You will learn:

  • How to have your voice heard and your contributions recognized in a virtual environment
  • How to conquer your thoughts and emotions to remain focused and confident during the COVID-19 crisis and racial unrest
  • How to instill calm, hope, and purpose in others during critical times
  • How to make decisions from a place of clarity and confidence during change and uncertainty
  • How to develop a plan to refocus your team, prioritize new opportunities, and take action
  • How to nurture a culture of clear communication that yields greater performance and productivity

Karen Hinds is a highly regarded leadership and diversity/inclusion expert who has partnered with organizations to build talent pipelines, facilitate leadership programs, and develop more inclusive cultures across the United States and the Caribbean

Originally from the Caribbean island of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Karen left the island at age 15 with her parents and siblings to pursue educational opportunities in the United States. The transition to a new country, culture, and school made it imperative for Karen to learn how to quickly adapt to change, thrive as an outsider, and build strategic relationships.

A graduate of Bowdoin College with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Spanish, Karen was chosen as one of 65 recipients for the national Thomas J. Watson Foundation Fellowship, a grant that enables recipients to pursue a yearlong independent study outside of the United States. The Fellowship was established by the children of Thomas J. Watson, a former Chairman and CEO of IBM.

Karen has authored five books and hundreds of business columns for international publications. For three years, Karen hosted a global women and girls leadership conference to develop female Caribbean leaders. She is known as a beach snob who loves the water. She also enjoys running obstacle races and recently rekindled her passion for weightlifting as a hobby.
